Read MoreThe Purple MC77 immediately struck me as having been developed by people who listen. It sounds great and was excellent on Vocals, Acoustic Guitar and Snare. The linked Input and Output controls finally make it possible to operate this style of limiter the way it’s meant to be used. Alongside enhancements like TMT, HPF on sidechain and Mix control, the overall feel is of the original unit which was always a force to be reckoned with.
The MC77 limiter plugin really surprised me. It sounds absolutely incredible on drums, bass, as well as vocals. The compression doesn’t start immediately pumping badly like other emulations out there. Having used similar hardware compressors for many years, this is absolutely the closest i’ve heard to the real thing. Very rarely do I say that about a plugin, if ever.
Stunner. An immaculate modeling of one of the best neo-classic compressors ever made! Sounds and feels just like the hardware — but it’s packed with tons of extra super-useful options. Brilliant!
