Brainworx bx_console AMEK 200
★★★★★A lovely smooth sound with a great range of features. Excellent for Individual Tracks, Groups and even basic Mastering. We´re running it on older systems and it´s a little CPU heavy for us to throw across every track though (one of P.S.´s SSL options fits more economically for that).
A good choice for adding flavour for anything from the 80´s forward.
The AMBNC feature is also a great teaching/learning tool for those of you with academies or channels. -
A solid channel strip
★★★★★Instead of another recreation of an analog desk, Brainworx has produced a synthesis of several plugins, creating a powerful tool. Every part of this plugin is engaging and sonically useful. The compressor takes some getting used to, but it helps gives tracks and busses a high energy feel. Wherever I use it, I get solid results. -
Amek 200 Console
★★★★★I'm not a professional mixing engineer, but I've mixed before and I've tried many channel strip plugins but I always found it difficult to get good results with many of them. This is likely because my ears are not as acclimated as a professional mixing engineer who has been doing this for years.
That said, I have found this plugin incredibly useful and easy to dial in the sound that I am looking for. The layout is as fairly simple for a channel strip. You can clearly see what each button and knob is for and it doesn't feel like you're trying to control a spaceship!
I really like that it lets you auto solo the bands in the eq. I also like that the compression section has a meter to show you how much make up gain you actually need. I know seasoned professionals might be able to hear subtle eq differences without soloing bands and they might also be able to quickly tell the difference in makeup gain for compression, but for someone like me who finds those things very difficult/time consuming, this plugin has been a great help!
