  • Love the amp

I would really like to see the recording chains and using an IR loader made more accesible. Ideally I would like something similar to the IR loader you get with Nembrini amps included, a drop down menu with the recording chains more organized instead of a long list to scroll through and perhaps a button for no recording chain would do fine though

I don't play metal and never will play metal and I absolutely love this amp sim. Perfect for when a more urgent sound than a hot Plex is needed. I'm amazed at how articulate this sim is and how well it sits. Never thought I'd be a fan of a metal oriented amp but absolutely a huge fan! A good number of the included IRs are great, no real need for 3rd party IRs with this one.
  • Modern tube tones de luxe!

My favorite Diezel still is the VH-4, which is for me the ultimate "Modern Marshall", which Marshall unfortunately never managed to build by themselves, sonically some sort of extremely hot-rodded Plexi, so to say.
The Herbert is a maybe sonically more modern, contemporary voiced version of a Diezel, cleaner, crispier clean tones, heavier, tighter, more modern voiced high gain tones and a lot in between, but in principle an excellent amp for modern Metal but not only. Most probably not the best choice for vintage amp tone fans, rather a sonic alternative to eg. a Rectifier or comparable high-gain amps.
Channel 1 sound a little bit too American for my taste, too much treble for my taste, which you can compensate by deactivating the (adjustable) mid scoop and / or reduce treble a little, then you get some warmer, in my opinion more balanced clean tones too, which then also sound excellent.
Channel 2 is a beautifully sounding - still rather British voiced, but hotter - overdrive channel with a powerful tone, very good harmonics reproduction and good dynamic reaction to attack, which sounds great with or without activated mid scoop, while channel 3 continues, where channel 2 ends. Much more of everything, modern high-gain in very good quality, with tight, but good bass and biting, but not too shrill sounding treble with still enough tube warmth.
What I like on the Diezel amps is, that they are not overloaded with knobs and switches, the basic voicings of the three channels are well selected and balanced, so adjusting the tones is mostly some sort of optimizing, depending on the used guitar, nevertheless they also offer a lot of flexibility, especially the individually adjustable, switchable mid scoop does a good job, but also eg. Deep and Presence controls in the power amp section.
Diezel amps are individually handmade in a small four person company and this you really hear also in this plugin version. You may like these tones or not, depending on your taste, but the sonic quality is top notch, you will hardly get any better sounding tones from a modern tube amp.
The plugin itself is a bargain for the quality of these tones.

Probably the best amp plugin I've ever used! The amount of IRs makes it extremely versatile and a proper studio weapon.

It blew my pants off! What a beautiful sounding metal monster. Herbert is the only amp sim you'll ever need. I own a bunch of amp sims from big names but none, NONE comes this close to recreating an actual amp in the box. It covers everything from ultra cleans up to the heaviest smashing riffing with a spectacular sound and feel. Just throw a tubescreamer before the amp and you are good to go.The mid cutting feature is a game changer when it comes to shape your tone. If the UI was scalable there would be no complaint at all. It looks small on big, wide screens. Please make it scalable.

Absolutely stunning sound! I adore this amp! His muscular, articulate and thick gain structure is addictive! The only thing I'd wish UI resolution was as big as product images, it'll make precise tweaking easier. Please make this possible in the next update!

  • Will it Chugg?

    ★★★★★
    by Maarten
Im not that much into chugg-metal, but when youre recoding metal on regular basis, you need at least one deep, growling amp! If youre looking for an amp that can really chugg, this one wont disappoint.
I personally use it mainly for rythm tones, but also on the lead side this amp delivers. Even though this amp is a real heavy hitter, when you play around with speaker combinations, its actually pretty versatile. Im glad I added this one to my collection.
  • New Favorite for High Gain Amp Sims

I've been going through my amp sims of late, and generally disappointed with how they have aged. Until this Diezel simulation came along. I demo'd it and bought it 5 minutes later. (Thanks PA for the generous discounts btw!)
Big, bold, wide. Does not disappoint. Behaves like a real amp should, decay doesn't falter into digital artifacts. Deep response. I compared it against the GTR stuff, Amplitube, SGear and the new BIAS plus, and this was my favorite for that big, metal crunch sound. TBH, makes me want to go back and re-amp a bunch of older guitar tracks. I digs. If you are guitaring, check it out.
