My go to 1176 Style comp
★★★★★Really really happy I made this purchase. I can get it to be super aggresive or very smooth. There are so many features on this compressor it's insanely good! I use it on bass, drums buss, vocals and anything that I want to catch the listener's attention. Plugin Alliance did it YET AGAIN!!! Job well done! -
Great now that the bugs have been fixed
★★★★★There was a while when this plugin was just too annoying to use. But now that the bugs have been fixed, I use this all the time. This 1176 has more of a grabby character on slow attack than the UA emulations, which makes it great for drums. I also use it to smash room mics. I haven't used it on much else, but I have no doubt that I will. It is a great sounding compressor with a ton of flexibility. I almost always reach for this over the UA 1176 now. -

Really good
★★★★☆Another 1176, but this time it's purple. Maybe not your everyday (versatile) compressor. But it's a little more forward then other (not purple) 1176 emulations. Do you need it? Not sure, but it sometimes changes the bottom end in nice way. -

★★★★☆Usually, all my song parts see one or more pieces of hardware in tracking or mixing. I was surprised about this take on the 1176 style simulation contest. So far the best one I heard and the one that reminds me of the hardware next to me. Measured to see if it aliases back, it does from 7 kHz to 20 kHz @ 44.1 kHz sampling frequency. Seems to miss the output transformer simulation? Unless the original unit is without one? I have fairly deep vocal sound and the MC77 does sound a lot like the hardware. I can imagine that it may sound not so great if the signals have a lot of energy above 7 kHz?
It will be my goto 1176 from now on for my LVs because it behaves like my hardware. I am not a developer, but this plugin may benefit from internal oversampling?
