As happy owner of 'G8' and 'SandmanPro', i was aware of Unfiltered Audio's design of dilatant plugins. The scope of their plugins' themed process as broad as relevant can be. Adding to that, the characteristic modulation system spoils the user such that (s)he wishes it were standard in all VSTs.
SpecOps offers unfurling mysteries to an even greater extent. The modification of source audio seems a boon at every corner. A dream-like quality as parameter tweaks are explored to hone patches.
FFT vocoding is a powerful way to re-guise sound and SpecOps' reverence to its potential is laid bare.
If pressed to assail this plugin, then i would mention that the compander (compressor/expander), acting only on the wet signal path, can lead to a disparity in level when modulating the wet/dry parameter.

The world has become a rather overstimulating place. Infinite options at every turn can easily leave our heads spinning. But every once in awhile something like SpecOps comes along and makes it all worthwhile. This simply could not exist in a simpler time, through its beauty we can learn to embrace the chaos that is life... and modulate it.

This was a plug-in that I wasn’t sure if I would use it much.
I just throw it on different instruments or whole mixes as a effect.
When I find a sound that it works with, it does wonderful job putting a new twist to it. Good Job Unfiltered Audio !

Fantastic plugin!! The sounds are so rich. I would love to see some more presets for it too. It's amazing on guitar if you can find a goof setting starting point. Mind blowing!! Thank you PA!!

Very cool plugin. I like what these guys do. I can see this being expanded upon and made more versatile but I really dig their approach to making audio tools and I enjoy supporting their endeavors. I have been putting this on my master chain far upstream from my limiter, and using 10-20% mix of the effect for an interesting spectral effect on my ambient stuff. Highly recommend.

It's hard to know where to start with this review, because SpecOps isn't really like anything else. Some other plugins can do spectral processing, many others do weird delay stuff and all manner of mangling sounds, but none of them do it quite like this one does it !!
It's pretty straight forward to use, I love the way you can " patch "effects and modulation chains together . I've barely scratched the surface of it but, so far, I really like how it sounds.

Spec Ops fills a niche left by the dearly departed Spektral Delay, providing ample amounts of wild spectral modulation possibilities. There isn't any other plugin out there like this one. Great stuff!

    This plug-in is awesome.
If you try the demo, you will get it right away.

I bought this thing because I found it to be very useful on rhythms and generally everything you want to give some life. It's of course nothing like Output's Motion or Soundtoys Panman, it's an extremely clever spectral toolkit that lets you sink deep into the frequency articulation of your sounds. I give it five stars even though, like Unfiltered Audio's Noisegate G8, I find this plugin to be extremely ugly looking. It's like a bad lava lamp. The upper part of the GUI can mesmerize you while the lower part is just an abomination of a metal stand with a lot of tweaking possibilities. Okay, the image doesn't fit. But you get the point. Also, this thing is very nice on acoustic instruments in technoid environments. Check it out!

This is a very innovative plugin. You can use it aggresively or just mix in bits to taste. As far out as the sound can be, you can tweak it to blend in the mix and add colour. I'll be exploring this for a long while. Outstanding!
