I was totally taken aback when I compared the AMEK Mastering Compressor to the mastering plugins of the big guns. On some tracks it equalled their quality, but on most, it surpassed. The AMEK Mastering Compressor manages to give you control not only on the depth of field, but also on the separation of instruments and the loudness of a track. These are three aspects that I believe are essential to a great sounding master. I will certainly be using the AMEK Mastering Compressor from now on.

My impression of this unit is that I can get the most out of it by using extreme settings, then dialing back the processing I’ve created by using the Mix control. This isn’t about subtle - it’s about muscle, and this compressor/expander does not disappoint!
If you need a musical type of pumping and breathing the AMEK is a breeze to get that to happen. I think I would probably use it mostly for that effect, and probably mostly on the sub-groups of my mix.
For general purpose stereo Mastering it would be one of maybe 2, maybe 3 dynamics processors in the chain, and this would be use as the secret sauce that I can’t get anywhere else!!

The AMEK Mastering Compressor is the plug-in I didn’t know I needed and it has now made it on to my mix bus. The dual attack release is incredible! It really helps bring the mix together. Also, the compressor's attack and release features really help keep the rhythm that the songs intended to have.

The AMEK Mastering Compressor is an absolute winner, with all the professional tools needed for compression. The AMEK is great on individual tracks but it really shines on the mix bus! I love the extra flavor of the TMT mode, the ease to expand stereo width, the informative meters, and the unique ambience control that is very useful to adjust the timing controls.

Wow. Seriously. This compressor is unbelievable on low end. Tightening up flappy low end as a mastering engineer is always a challenge. Not with the AMEK MC. Bravo.

The AMEK Mastering Compressor is an extremely powerful compressor. I love having the ability to dial in the parameters for the Slow, Fast and Peak detector settings individually. The addition of the Ambience button for referencing makes it much easier to hear what the compressor is doing and get the settings just right. This compressor can be very subtle, enhancing minute details without affecting the impact of the transients. Or, it can be used to bring cohesion to an unruly mix. Which makes it a go to compressor no matter the style of music from Spoken Word to Classical to big Rock and Pop. It’s also very powerful in that it can be pushed hard and potentially destructive if you’re not closely paying attention. And that is one of it’s best attributes; Subtle and Gentle to Obvious and Mangled. Very reminiscent of the GML 2030 hardware. In fact, about all of the features that I use the 2030 for on a daily basis are here in the AMEK Mastering Compressor plugin. Another Home Run for the Plugin Alliance! Well done team!
