DIFIX
Fix your recording hardware imperfection
A lot of sound cards claim to have a Hi-Z instrument input. But in reality, the input impedance is not high enough to make your pick-ups work properly. And that has a displeasing effect on your instrument‘s signal. If you use one of these types of soundcards, you definitely need DIFIX to make your directly recorded guitars or bass sound right.
What it does
Soundcard's instrument input is not the same as a proper DI-box. When plugging your guitar or bass directly in it your recording may lose brilliance and sound really dull. DIFIX deploys several independent sophisticated processes to level the sound and adds a little bit of analogue saturation as if you used a real DI-box.
SubBass Doctor 808
The cure for treating your sub bass right
Treating the lowest frequencies is not an easy task. And in some listening environments, it is almost impossible. If you mix while travelling or your mixing room or your system is not 110% perfect, you should see the doctor. Namely SubBass Doctor 808.
We all want beefy, pumping subs that can shake bodies. But without the right treatment, they can very easily get out of control. Although they are inaudible in some environments, wrongly mixed low frequencies can play havok on larger playback and PA systems.
You may want to mix while travelling, you may be producing in a home studio. Your monitors in such scenarios won't necessarily deliver the lowest frequencies right, and perhaps your room is not 100% acoustically treated. In all these cases you should seek help from the Doctor.
SubBass Doctor 808 is a safety net for all mentioned above. It filters potentially harmful frequencies and guards against the lowest bass content exceeding a healthy limit. But as SubBass Doctor 808 reduces some carefully filtered components of the low end, it compensates for any loss with more healthily distributed sub frequencies, ensuring that your sub-bass will be more balanced and powerful than ever.
Features
- SubBass Doctor 808:
- Sub-Bass Control and Safety: Filters out harmful frequencies and prevents low basses from exceeding a safe, "healthy limit," guarding against potential damage to large PA systems
- Compensation and Enhancement: Compensates for the low-end loss caused by the filtering process, ensuring that the desired sub-bass power is maintained
- Pleasant Parallel Saturation: Adds warmth and helps the sub-bass to "set off" by incorporating parallel saturation to accentuate the low frequencies
- Targeted Application: Primarily designed for synth bass and drums (like 808s), but also effective for other low-reaching instruments such as 5-string bass and double bass
- DIFIX:
- Fixes Soundcard Imperfections: Corrects the issue of inadequate input impedance on many soundcard Hi-Z inputs, which causes loss of brilliance and a dull sound on direct instrument recordings
- Sophisticated Processing: Uses several independent sophisticated processes and adds a bit of analogue saturation to level the sound, making direct recordings sound right
- Essential for Direct Recording: Highly beneficial for home studio users with budget soundcards, but can also fix or enhance recordings even when using higher-end hardware DIs
- First-Step Tool: Designed to be the first plugin on the instrument track to correct the initial input signal before applying any amp simulations or other effects
- Easy Operation: Simple control with only two main settings: choosing between Guitar or Bass and adjusting the level of signal improvement
- Mix/Rec Modes: Features a dynamic Recording Mode for real-time DI sound and a spectral dynamics-based Mixing Mode for even better results (recommended for mixing due to potential extra latency)
- Versatile Use: Can be used to save and help remix old records that were poorly recorded via direct input
