  • A rich and fat sounding VA synth, but not perfect

As all things Bx, they have done a masterful job staying true to the original analog hardware. For example, the TMT adds subtle imperfections of analog circuit behavior, and the envelops, LFOs, and filters are meticulously designed to mimic the SEM. But, they've also made some quality of life updates for modern producers. The FX section mimics a pedal board with some nice effects (reverb, delay, flare, chorus, amp sim distortion) with scaled down controls that can be stacked and moved around in a chain to provide some great atmosphere. A "behind the scenes" Modulation Section allows for an additional 9 modulation source-destination routings to really flesh out modulation. Overall, it sounds amazing.
However, there are things that could be improved. (1) The Preset manager, and especially preset editing, creation, and tagging could be better and more convenient. (2) It's very hard to see the floating text that comes up when you adjust the control. Your mouse is usually in the way, and the text is tiny. It would be nice if they just moved the text readout to over the top of the controls. (3) I can't get key tracking ("Key Follow" in the Modulation Section) to execute appropriate behavior on a selected destination, such as the filter cutoff. (4) The arpeggio is serviceable but meh. (5) It would be really, really nice if Bx would provide realtime visual feedback of knob movements when things like the filter cutoff, resonance, and envelopes are being modulated.
These are all doable and useful enhancements that would significantly improve this synth. As it is, I find myself spending more time with other synths. However, if you want some accurate analog sounds, especially some fast, crispy double saw wave leads or some bright and edgy square wave basses, the Bx Oberhausen sounds fantastic.

Yes. Find a brass patch. Tweak it a tiny bit. Radio ready. Very good job.

it may seem simple in appearance compared to other "clones" of oberheim, but you have to rely on the appearance and the sounds are extremely effective

this really sounds fat and original. I'm happy I bought it. 80s are back with amazing sound. It is also easy to use. Absolutely 5 stars!

Gorgeous all around! This plugin features extremely high quality and delicious sounds to complement your songs. You absolutely have to try it, it's so easy to use.
When I first played it, the thing that impressed me the most were the the crystal clear and wide sounds that reverberate across the room. This feels like being a pro on easy mode. It made my need for richer sounds absolutely satisfied, and it has a great price as well.
As others have already commented, this plugin is so potent, even in basic mode my laptop struggles. There are several things I can't try until I get a better computer, so take that into consideration.
Unison feels like a button to engage with heaven and all it's glory. Try playing some stuff with a preset like Gentle Elephant while having Unison off, and after a few minutes turn it on. It's just a masterful display of sound.
  • Great analog synth simulation

This Plugin may be CPU hungry in some presets, but it's sound is really fat and loud. For the non initiated, this kind of synth may appear too raw. Just put a delay, a reverb or a tape simulator. You must think old school because this thing really sounds oldschool. This one shines with the internal or external effects. ;)
