I didn't believe the hype... I put it on my mix bus and automatically it breathed new life into the music. I am very impressed with this plug-in. Another huge win for Plugin Alliance!

It took a mastering engineer with great ears to develop a plug like this. This is next level tech.
Such a tasteful use of combined FX that really adds depth and space to a mix or track.
This one will cause a lot of Professional Jealousy.

Just another saturator/EQ ? We've already got the Vertigo VSM and Black Box right ? And tons of top EQ plugins from PA ? The Oven is IMHO all about that awesome low end fatness and silky top end. Already on my mixbus (top-down mixing) before mastering !

Like plenty of analog mastering guys (and gals), I find myself "warming up" to more and more digital tools for more and more purposes, while the analog chain - while still a vital part - is being used for subtle character and that final polish.
While analog emulations have come a long way - even with some of those "character" pieces - there has been a lack of simple, "this track needs a little something" tools on the digital side. Most (let's just call them "saturation" effects) are just so heavy-handed and either sterile, "synthetic" sounding, or both. And let me be frank - I've been doing this for a long time and I'm not afraid to invest "serious" dollars into "serious" gear. But I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who might feel a bit squeamish about sinking several $K into something that isn't used day-in and day-out. If there's something in my rack that isn't being used with some regularity, it usually winds up finding a new home.
Then you run into tools like this. It's subtle - or heavy-handed, but still somehow musical and pleasing to the ear. It's handy whether being additive or subtractive. And I can see this being used day-in and day-out. It's not a "gimmick" - however, it is unique and more importantly, useful. This will require some study - But I can already tell that I'm going to enjoy the time spent.

Ayo Dirk! THE OVEN got my drum bus knocking like how boom bap drums are supposed to sound in the whip! This plugin is especially dope for that classic 12-Bit SP-1200/MPC-60/ASR-X sampled sound! Thanks for the dopeness Bro!!!

This is truly an awesome, innovatively integrated multi-tool for mixing and mastering. It's also great for tonal enhancement on a variety of source material.
  • Much more than just another saturation plugin...

Actually I thought that I don't need another saturation plugin. When I briefly tested "The Oven" my first thought was "quite nice, but not better than others". Fortunately, I took another closer look at the plugin and changed my mind: The Oven is different from other saturation plugins and definitely a secret weapon. I use the plugin primarily for enhancing vocals and am really excited about it. You have to be careful not to overdo it with the settings and apply them very subtly. If you do that, you'll be rewarded with a great sound that I don't know from any other comparable plugin so far. This plugin is definitely not just another saturation plugin but something very special. It is now permanently on my vocal bus.

If you're looking for that mojo and all the magic happening under the hood then this is a secret weapon for you. It can never go wrong. Subtle, warm and makes everything sound rounded and rich. I personally find it more suitable either on the mixbuss to give that gluey type of feel or on my mastering chain. Well done PA as always!
