With a core saturation tone based around driving carefully selected analog vacuum tube components beyond their technically specified range, producing highly musically conducive overtones and harmonic distortion, and linking this to a simple but deceptively sophisticated 3-dial control set, Klanghabitat have come up with a truly unique take on modern saturation for mixing and mastering that can be by turns subtle and relatively transparent, adding useful body, gentle weight and dimension where needed, right up to contributing beautifully responsive mix glue and additional harmonic bite — and even all-out distortion — when pushed harder.

Unique tube warmth, glue and flavor on tracks, buses, mixes and masters

Both plugins centre around the same three core controls, with Lyra:mb providing the same controls duplicated across up to four independent frequency bands — useful for more complex material and typical mastering applications. An additional Color control also sets the tilt filter center frequency for even more tonal range. The magic is in how these controls subtly interact, and by careful adjustment of these simple dials, a huge range of coloration options opens up.

Saturation

Dialling up this control brings the modeled vacuum tube from “normal” operation into the region that will induce saturation of the tube. By restricting the tube’s possible range of operational headroom, the incoming signal clips while running through the tube, producing a smooth and THD-rich saturated signal without harshness.

Intensity

The intensity dial is essentially a dry/wet mix control that allows blending of the saturated signal with the original dry signal. Operating from 0% to 100%, this function is extremely useful for finding and applying exactly the right balance of saturation processing for your source material.

Output

The output control ensures you can always trim the signal level for easy gain matching with the surrounding signal chain. It has a range of -12 dB to +12 dB.
