Overview

Tobias Lindell took the experience he gained mixing and producing hit records and created a line of hardware audio products that became instant favorites with producers and engineers around the world. Now, some of Tobias’ favorite designs are available in plugin form.

The original Lindell 7X-500 hardware is a one-channel compressor/limiter. Its FET (field effect transistor) design incorporates some new and exclusive features such as High Pass sidechain filter and a Mix control, which allows mixing between dry and wet signals for parallel compression effects. The 7X-500 is Lindell’s take on the classic ”1176® Sound”. It can be smooth or it can be a rock’n'roll monster when using its 100:1 ratio.

The 7X-500 plugin, in addition to being a faithful emulation, is an evolution of the original hardware, adding useful features like stereo operation and continuously variable attack and release controls.

The 7X-500 is also available as part of the Lindell ChannelX bundle (link) and 100% Lindell Bundle (link). In addition to the savings, the bundles offer some additional features that are worth checking out.

Unlike my other Lindell plugins, I'm somehow not impressed. It does the trick and I like the parallel compression knob, but it's just not so versatile. My opinion - great on guitars and bass, not on… Read More

If you like the 1176 sound but wish that it had a mix knob and variable ratios, this is your answer. Classic tone with modern controls.
