Either to get more presence, add some grit & texture or just drive to hell something, the HG-2 is a pretty handy unit. I often use it really subtly, in parallel, to brighten/open the songs that I master.

I use the hardware box nearly every day. Having received an email stating that the plugin was on sale for $69 & also had a $20 voucher, I thought I'd buy it. Anyway, it really is an excellent emulation, seriously close. The one thing I would like to see is some kind of automatic gain compensation. With the hardware, you can use both hands to keep the level roughly consistent; with the software, it's a pain in the backside to do this with a mouse. Would have given 5 stars if this feature was present.

I just couldn't help myself...after checking out a few reviews regarding this plugin...i was sold....This plugin adds such sweetness to your tracks, Busses & Mastering it's just ridiculous.. I’ve been mixing and producing for over 15 years including in the analogue domain but now all of our projects are done currently in the box.I’ve been reaching out looking at all sorts of different saturations and distortions to try and glue things together. All I can say is the black box brings that character and mojo that no other plug-ins have,this is the mojo with very few buttons that makes your mix rock from absolute decimating distortions to just pure glue And analog sauce I have currently been working on a mix for the past four months and trying to get it to sound just right not from lack of trying. Up on purchasing the black box I threw it on the drum bus the vocal bus and the master bus and treated each just a little bit. The end result was a mix that was powerful hard-hitting not fatiguing to the ears and best of all finished! If you’re looking for something that will take the digital out of your recordings this is the one simple tool! If you don’t want to drop the money on the plug-in don’t try and demo it!
